A Guide To The Best Coffee In Nadi, Fiji
Finding a decent coffee can be a bit of a mission in Fiji for the international traveller used to lattes, flat whites and other specialty coffees. The milk used in the islands is all UHT (ultra-heat treated), and you won’t find any fresh dairy milk in the cafes here. Plus you’ll need to search around for non-dairy options. Most coffees also come single shot, so if you usually have an extra hit of caffeine in your morning brew, you’ll need to request the extra shot. So avoid any caffeine withdrawal symptoms with our guide to the best places for coffee in Nadi.
Taste Fiji
Cafe, Contemporary, Oceanian, Fusion, Vegetarian, Vegan, Gluten-free
Taste Fiji pretty much ticks all the boxes when it comes to determining the best place to eat/best coffee/best pastries in Fiji. This cafe is open for breakfast and lunch every day, and dinner on Friday nights only. It’s hard to put your finger on what hits you first when you enter; the handmade doughnuts and meringues, or the smell of the fresh barista-made coffee. The menu is extensive all day, with a strong focus on local produce.
Cafe O
Cafe, Restaurant, Smoothie Bar, Oceanian, Coffee
Cafe O, which is also a catering company, has two locations in Nadi, one in Martintar and the other in Denarau. The interior is light, modern and airy with indoor and outdoor dining. Cafe O offers great coffee as well as a range of freshly blended smoothies and juices. Open for breakfast, brunch and lunch, it prides itself on being a place to relax with good coffee, friendly staff and modern Pacific cuisine.
Lulu Bar & Cafe
Bar, Cafe, Restaurant, Seafood, Fast Food, Sushi, Australian
Lulu Bar & Cafe is widely accepted as one of the best places for coffee in Nadi with service to match. Located in Denarau next to the passenger terminal, it is a popular spot for a caffeine hit for tourism workers as well as tourists waiting to board their boat. With views out to the port, Lulu Bar & Cafe is situated in a prime location to observe the comings and goings within the harbour. It offers both indoor and outdoor dining and is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner with variety of cuisine, including an extensive sushi and sashimi menu.
Bulaccino
Cafe, Coffee, Tea , European, Vegetarian
Before we even mention the coffee, Bulaccino deserves recognition for its brilliant name, incorporating the traditional Fijian greeting you hear everywhere throughout the islands, ‘Bula’. With a bakery on site producing fresh breads, pastries and pies, Bulaccino is also a popular spot for breakfast, lunch and any inbetweeners. It has a strong farm-to-plate ethos, with even the honey coming from their bees on the Bulaccino Garden Farm at Votualevu.
Bulaccino also offers a unique Fijian take on the traditional cappuccino, offering a ‘Niuccino’ which is an espresso coffee made with coconut milk. Sweeter than traditional milk, it is delicious but also quite rich and very creamy.
Birdrock Cafe
Cafe, Tea , Oceanian, Coffee
Birdrock is a cosy, modern and relatively new cafe in Martintar in Nadi, situated right next to the popular Ed’s Bar which is one of Nadi’s busiest nightclubs. Birdrock offers delicious sweet treats as well as breakfast and brunch options, but has a strong focus on producing good coffee and tea in a relaxed, intimate setting. There’s only enough space for a handful of people, creating a wonderfully warm and friendly environment.
