Hip Apartments in St Anton, Austria, You'll Want to Call Home
If it’s serious skiing – and plenty of après-ski silliness – you’re after, St Anton am Arlberg is the resort for you. Arlberg is the ski area of demanding pistes – red runs here would be black in most other resorts – and deep powder runs in the Austrian Alps. St Anton delivers up the bouncing slope-side bars, such as the MooserWirt, so there’s certainly no danger of getting bored. Here’s our guide to the best apartments in St Anton, Austria.
Appartement ALPtyrol
Apartment
If you’re troubled by the large troll dolls that seem to appear in most of the room photos online, rest assured there’s actually only one. Interior quirks aside, this block of four apartments in the village centre is rather chic. Timber-clad walls – and, in some apartments, ceilings – meet plush, contemporary furniture, while accents of burnished copper, slate and leather are splashed throughout. You’ll feel like you’re staying at an arty pal’s live-in studio – and you’ll wish you could stay all season.
Vaya St Anton
Apartment
Starting with cosy two-bedroom apartments, and scaling up to a sprawling top-floor penthouse – sleeping up to 12 – there’s an apartment for almost any guest combo here, just beyond central St Anton. Large black-and-white mountain photos in thick timber frames, antler-form chandeliers and cow-skin rugs are visceral reminders that you’re in the Alps. Butter-soft leather dining chairs, charcoal linen lampshades and stainless steel kitchen units add a gloss of refined, contemporary chic. The basement spa, with saunas and steam rooms, is an invitation to pamper yourself silly.
Riffelalp Lodge
Apartment
You won’t find a more cosy and calming place than this all-timber lodge in Nasserein, which has the serenity and style of a five-star sauna and interiors clad entirely in Alpine timber. The pine-y aroma is soothing enough alone – and that’s before you tumble into the living room, with its seamlessly integrated fireplace, or your room, with faux furs piled on the bed, felt pendant lamps and slate-tiled bathroom. It’s so hygge-inspiring and comfortable, you’ll be lucky if you make it back out for dinner.
Riefli Aparts
Apartment
Just five minutes’ drive down the valley in the smaller village of St Jakob am Arlberg, Riefli Aparts are two stylish two-bedroom apartments. The first thing to catch your eye will be the floor-to-ceiling wall of stacked split logs next to the fireplace. Thankfully, for your own safety and for the structural integrity of the building, these are just decorative – but there is a basket of logs you can use to toss into the log burner. The minimal white-and-wood scheme, designer kitchen and cabin-like rooms are an added bonus. Order in a cheese-loaded pizza from Pomodoro to refuel after a day on the slopes.
Murrmel Apartments
Apartment
If the après-ski scene has drawn you to St Anton as much as the skiing, this traditional chalet-style house of cosy one- and two-bed apartments is the place for you. Not only is it in St Anton’s jolly centre, it’s directly above the hopping Murrmel Bar – so after a night on the tiles, you can just slope upstairs to bed. The apartments mix folksy Tyrolean nods, such as gingham-print bench seating, cottage-style pine furniture and wrought-iron candelabras, with contemporary tech. You couldn’t wish for a better base in the thick of the frivolity.
Apart6580
Apartment
The name might be a little forgettable, but that’s about the only thing in this ultra-cool apartment block that won’t leave a lasting impression. The rawness of poured concrete walls and ceilings clashes artfully with oiled wood panelling and floorboards everywhere else. The aesthetic throughout is modern Scandi-minimal, with hidden LEDs glowing from behind the bed headboard, kitchen cupboards and bathroom mirror. Sliding doors and ballerina-leg furniture emphasise the feeling of light and space – as cool and pale as snow itself.
Mountain Spa Residences
Apartment
Surrounded by Alpine meadows at the intermediate-friendly Nasserein end of St Anton, this apart-hotel is ideal if you’re looking to ease yourself in on the pistes. It’s also perfect if you’re keen on contemporary accommodation with a bit of traditional decor: the blue LED-lit bathrooms, clean lines of the kitchens and flat-screen TVs contrast stylishly with the scroll-arm sofas and wing-back armchairs. Add in industrial-vintage pendant lamps and a pastel-heavy colour palette, and you’ve got a base that’ll appeal to everyone in the party.
Appartement Anna-Luise
Apartment
Simple, cute and homely – that’s how you’ll find these two Nasserein-based apartments. Expect the customary lashings of pine wood, modern, compact kitchens and private balconies with stunning views down the valley. As they’re on the cosier side, there’s not much room for decorative flourishes. But the rooms have a selective use of colour – green, pink and navy velvet for the living room and kitchen furniture – along with curtains printed with mountain wildflowers, and muted whites and sage greens in the bedroom. The overall effect lifts the neutral canvas into brightness.
Am Alten Marktplatz
Apartment
Would you like your temporary mountain home to be more traditional? If so, the Am Alten Marktplatz is the base to bag – framed vintage skiing photos on walls lend a crisp dash to rooms with gingham cushions, colour-matching curtains, carpets and bedspreads, plus reading lamps above the bed headboard. Wrap the lot in a postcard-cute chalet building just steps from the centre of St Anton and you’ve got a timeless place to stay – right down to the Alpine breakfasts of locally produced cheese and muesli.
Bachmann Appartements
Apartment
Some of the interior-decoration choices in these apartments include lots of burnt-orange, flower-print wall art and loud curtains. Yet there’s a genuine charm to this family-run apart-hotel. In fact you’ll feel like you’re staying at a local family’s rather large and rambling chalet home – take advantage of the ground-floor spa, with views out across the garden, the video-games consoles you can borrow from reception, and the offer of a real Christmas tree, delivered to your apartment.
