Tropical Northern Thailand – jungle fun you'll never forget

There’s a mystical quality to the northern regions of Thailand, from the breathtaking temples of Chiang Mai to the misty mountaintop of Doi Inthanon. Steaming tropical jungles conceal cascading waterfalls and herds of elephants, while endless rice fields paint a powerful picture of rural Thai life. Our 10-day northern adventure celebrates the best of all these things, starting with street food discoveries and spiritual temples in Chiang Mai. Out in the countryside we’ll climb Bua Tong Sticky Waterfall, swim in Pam Bok and explore the twisty trails of Pai Canyon. We’ll find hidden caves and natural hot springs to soak in, as well as having plenty of time to relax in stunning mountain resorts, and tuck into a Thai banquet or two. The trip highlight comes on the final day, when we’ll get up early to go on a sunrise hike up Doi Inthanon, Thailand’s highest mountain. The image of sunlight beaming through the clouds and onto the verdant forests below will still be burned into your brain as we head back down the mountain to an ethical elephant sanctuary. It’s a rescue centre that offers a safe space for former working elephants, and you’ll have the chance to get up close as you feed and bathe these majestic beasts.

Incredible Thailand and Laos by Train – a rail experience like no other

The beauty of Thailand is that its neighbours are just as friendly, and just as beautiful. That’s why we felt the need to incorporate magical Laos into this behemoth two-week Rail Trip. In Thailand you’ll explore the ancient ruins of Sukhothai and dine on street food delights in Chiang Mai, where you’ll also learn to rustle up authentic Thai dishes on a cooking masterclass. Then it’s on to Lampang and an ethical elephant sanctuary, where you can feed beautiful Asian elephants and give them a playful mud bath. You’ll also bamboo raft down Wang River and barbecue under the stars in our jungle glamping site. The adventure continues in Laos, where we’ll swap trains for a river cruise down the Mekong. Meet rural whisky-making villagers, discover spiritual caves and feast on authentic local dishes. You’ll hike to the extraordinary Kuang Si Falls before taking a high-speed train to Vang Vieng, kayaking down the Nam Song River and jumping on the sleeper train back to Bangkok, for one last day of exploration in the Thai capital.
