If you’re an Outlander fan and have fantasised about owning a country property like Jamie Fraser’s Lallybroch, your dreams could come true, as this stunning 19th-century Scottish home has an incredible price tag of £200,000.

Granted, this C-listed home in Newport-on-Tay needs a hell of a lot of work doing to it as the property has been vacant for 12 years, but if you fancy a Grand Designs-type project, Chesterhill House could be the one for you.

The house has a fascinating history – it was originally built in 1870 in a Tudor-Italianate style to replace a previous property that belonged to wealthy Dundee merchants. It’s got bags of character and plenty of unique architectural features, including a very rare oval-shaped walled garden that’s also listed, plus a square-plan tower and castellated parapets.

You get a lot of house for your buck, with the accommodation spread out across three floors and an attic, measuring around 5,300 square feet. There is also around three acres of land that comes with the house, which is surrounded by stunning woodland.

Chesterhill House has six bedrooms and five bathrooms, but the highlights are probably the incredible view from the unique square tower, which looks out over the Fife countryside, and the imposing 21-foot-high living room. While the country pad is in a secluded rural setting, it is close to the River Tay and is only a 10-minute drive across the bridge to the city of Dundee.

If you like a country stroll, there are plenty of places nearby to check out, including Falkland Palace, Kellie Castle, Balmerino Abbey and Hill of Tarvit, all of which are National Trust properties. This is also golfing country, with the world-renowned St Andrews course, which regularly hosts the Open Championship, not too far away.
