The Port Launay Mangrove Forest

You’ve heard of the Vallee de Mai, and you may have even heard of Fond Ferdinand as areas you should visit in Seychelles but did you know there is also an amazing mangrove forest in Seychelles? The Mangrove Forest at Port Launay is considered to be the best example of a healthy mangrove forest in the Seychelles. You can find all seven species of mangrove here.

Police Bay

If you are looking for an adventure, take a drive down to Police Bay right in the south of Mahé. It’s a much longer drive than it looks on the map but it’s an exciting journey. The road winds in and out of dense forest. Drive on up a big hill past the turning for Anse Intendance, then back down again. Keep going, past little clusters of houses and you’ll eventually get there. It’s not really a great beach for swimming but it’s wild and beautiful all the same.

The Seychelles Tiger Chameleon

The Seychelles chameleon is a special spot if you manage to find one! At a maximum of 16cm they are pretty tiny for a chameleon. They are endemic to the Seychelles and even then can only be found on Mahé, Praslin and Silhouette islands. They are listed as endangered by the IUCN red list. If you’re going to spot one, it will be in forest areas.

Les Rochers Restaurant

Among Praslin residents, Les Rochers Restaurant is no secret. But as it has no website, not even a Facebook page, visitors can be pass it by without even knowing it is there. The menu mostly contains fresh fish and other seafood. The quality of food there is unbelievable and the atmosphere and ambiance is beautiful. You’ll receive fantastic service too. It is a little pricey there but for a romantic meal, it can’t be beaten.
