One of the top hotels in Morocco’s former imperial capital of Marrakesh, Fellah Hotel offers so much more than a place to simply rest your head at the end of each fun-filled day of discovery. Indeed, you might be tempted to spend a few hours taking it easy, without even needing to leave the hotel. It’s completely possible to spend a whole day here and not run out of things to do.

Top Marrakesh experiences include exploring the old walled medina, haggling for bargains in the vibrant souks, discovering the tanneries, and visiting historical sites, such as Koutoubia Mosque, Badi Palace, Bahia Palace, the Saadian Tombs, and the Ben Youssef Madrasa. Of course, watching the action at the lively Jemaa el-Fnaa is a Marrakesh must, and you can unwind with a stroll through the city’s lush gardens. Between hitting the highlights, eating your fill of tajine, tanjia, and couscous, visiting the varied art galleries, admiring the street art, and rejuvenating your senses in a hammam, here’s how to enjoy a top day at Fellah Hotel.

Visit the working farm

See the animals that live on the hotel’s small working farm. Tap into your rustic side as you help to gather eggs and goat’s milk, and groom donkeys. You can pet fluffy rabbits and learn more about life in the Moroccan countryside.

Burn off excess energy and calories in the well-equipped gym, or sign up for vigorous Thai boxing classes. Using all parts of the body as both a weapon and a shield, Thai boxing is great for fitness, stamina, strength, and self-defense. Boxing sessions are also available for children. Personal training sessions are available in the gym as well, or you can work out under your own steam in private.

Take a dip in the pool and explore the grounds

Hotel Fellah has a large and inviting swimming pool, perfect for cooling off on hot, sunny days. Alternatively, grab a sun bed and work on your tan. The cactus terrace helps to promote a calm and relaxing atmosphere, and there are stunning views of the Atlas Mountains.

Guided walks around the grounds and nearby areas are a great way for kids to learn more about nature and interact with the environment. Children can also get hands-on experience in the gardens, tending to herbs and other plants.

Enjoy the wellness facilities

Find inner balance with a course of yoga, cleanse and soothe your body in the luxurious eco-friendly hammam (traditional Moroccan steam bath), or relax with a massage. Thai massages, where the therapist uses their hands, arms, elbows, feet, knees, and legs to knead your muscles, are available, as are oil massages, herbal therapies, and head massages. Guests can also enjoy aromatherapy sessions.

Engage your inner creative at Dar al-Ma-mun

With a name that means “House of Wisdom”, Dar al-Ma-mun is a non-profit cultural and arts centre at the hotel. Varied activities include helping local women improve their literacy, providing youth diversion activities for local children, teaching about cultural diversity, supporting Moroccan artists, and running diverse workshops.

Children can join art sessions and learn new creative techniques, while African Tales, with storytelling and poetry, is sure to keep young and inquisitive minds spellbound.

Peruse the library collection

Hotel Fellah has an onsite library. Works include those written in Arabic, French, and English. The large collection caters to varying interests; with around 10,000 books, you’re sure to find something that piques your curiosity and captures your attention.
Fellah Hotel: Dar al-Ma’mûn’s library, #Marrakech. Books. It has been said “a library is not a luxury but one of the necessities of life.” And Fellah agrees. Their beautiful library has thousands of books in French, Arabic and English and is completely free for guests and the public.

Dine on delectable cuisine

The onsite restaurant serves an assortment of European cuisine. Guests can choose to dine in the air-conditioned dining room, next to the swimming pool, or on the covered patio. You can even enjoy an al fresco picnic in the shade of the olive trees. A wide range of cocktails and other drinks are available, and Sunday brunch is a particularly popular dining experience.

Alternatively, you can order traditional Moroccan fare from the Touco Café, which is run by people from the nearby village. Offering visitors the chance to enjoy authentic Moroccan favourites, with a strong focus on Moroccan street food specialties, wash down your meals with herbal beverages, like mint tea.

Take a cooking class

As well as providing tasty food, Touco Café also offers people the chance to learn how to make Moroccan food back at home. Make an advance reservation and take a walk through the vegetable gardens to pick your own fresh ingredients to make a fantastically lip-smacking tajine.
