Island Plates Bistro

Bistro, Restaurant, Caribbean

Island Plates Bistro is a cute little bistro tucked away in a corner of Speightstown. The breakfast here is made with love by the two sisters, Pat and Marie, who own Island Plates Bistro. Their love for what they do is evident in the service as well as the home-cooked breakfast and light lunches they serve. Their pancakes are out-of-this-world, and omelets are also a top seller in the mornings.

The one thing that makes breakfast stand out at L’Azure is their famous Sunday Gospel Brunch Buffet. It’s so popular that locals from all over Barbados will travel across the island just to experience the food and the choir. Some of the Bajan specialities served at the Gospel Brunch include macaroni pie, Flying Fish, beans and more. Right after your meal, you can take a walk on Crane Beach, which is one of the best beaches in the world.

Unlike most of its competitors, Bajan Blue offers a large breakfast buffet every single day that it operates. From sushi stations to fish nuggets to Indian curries to traditional breakfast foods, you’ll find almost anything that you feel like when visiting. They make their orange juice and coconut water right there on the spot, which caps off a perfect Bajan breakfast buffet. If you’re in the mood to sleep in, then you’ll want to experience their afternoon tea selection. It has a lot more lighter pastries and cakes and you can order a la carte. A nice variety of tea selections from around the world are also on offer.

It’s once again a buffet-style service, which is the most popular breakfast service on the island. Some of the more traditional Bajan dishes served include Flying Fish, stewed chicken, split pea soup and even scones with local jam. Sunbury House also offers guided tours around the property, which is a great way to end your morning before taking on the rest of your day.

One thing that makes the Atlantis brunch buffet stand out is their simple, classic food. They make both classic Bajan breakfast items (mahi-mahi) and more North American-style (waffles, scrambled eggs) dishes, so there’s something for everyone to find and know that they’ll like. Make sure to ask for a table with an ocean view for an even more enjoyable experience. They actually built a brand-new terrace to accommodate for the increase in business as they gain popularity for their food. Make sure to make a reservation ahead of time, which you can do online.

Portions are smaller than what some visitors may expect, but the food is delicious. You’re welcomed to enjoy drinks in their lounge before being taken to your table. The big draw to the Coral Reef Club’s Brunch is their roast suckling pig, which you’ll be hard-pressed to find anywhere else on the island. Reservations are strongly recommended.

Bliss Cafe

Cafe, Restaurant, Caribbean

The Bliss Cafe is a cute little family-run breakfast spot, featuring grilled paninis, waffles, omelets, and more. You’ll find yourself coming up with reasons to keep returning here during your stay while getting value for your money. Brown Sugar

Brown Sugar

Brown Sugar offers a large selection of items in their Sunday brunch service: from split pea soup to pumpkin fritters and seafood creole. A live steel pan band plays throughout the entire brunch service. The brunch/lunch is buffet-style with a Bajan twist. It’s off the main road in a quiet area, so if you’re looking for somewhere to start off your morning in a calmer spot, this is the place to be. Don’t forget to order a Rum Punch with your meal: it’s one of the best on the island.
