Located close to the city center, this Umeå prison was opened in 1861 and finally closed more than a century later, in 1981. After extensive renovations, the youth hostel and one-star hotel opened in 2007. Inside, the hotel has 23 single rooms, one double room and two family rooms, with five beds. During the summer months, the old prison courtyard hosts cultural shows and exhibitions.
