As an island nation, it should come as no surprise there are plenty of beaches in Singapore for travellers to bask in the tropical sun. Culture Trip helps you discover which beach is right for you.

Besides taking advantage of the year-long sunshine, lounging about on Singapore’s beaches are an inexpensive way to experience the tropical vibes of Southeast Asia without ever leaving the island. The beaches here are generally safe and meticulously maintained, so you can expect minimal litter. Eager to get your bikini out? We list some of the more marvellous beaches in Singapore for you to explore.

This beach, also on Sentosa, is specially catered for family adventures or those looking for some thrills. There’s a whole host of activities to be had here, from bungee jumping at the tallest spot in Singapore, zip-lining at Mega Adventure Park to water-jetpacking right around at Ola Beach Club. You can get your adrenaline pumping for the entire day, then refuel at one of the many restaurants, bars and cafes on the seashore.

Tanjong Beach

Natural Feature

Home to plenty of beach clubs and located in the southernmost point of Sentosa, Tanjong Beach is an idyllic spot to enjoy some quiet personal space. On weekends it gets particularly crowded, as revellers stop by the two prominent beach clubs: Tanjong Beach Club and FOC Sentosa, known to host some hip and uproarious parties. Even with all the hulabaloo, you can easily find a quiet spot in this spacious outreach and just while away the time on your mat or beach chair.

Changi Beach

One of the oldest coastal parks in Singapore, Changi Beach is where you get a chance to see the old fashioned side of the city-state – for it still retains that nostalgic charm from centuries gone by. The white sands and coconut trees attract a lot of families and friends who love its old-world charm. Additionally, it’s situated right next to the Changi Airport runway, which means you get the chance to sight an airplane just off the coast as it takes off beyond the clouds.

East Coast Park

Park, Natural Feature

Massively popular with locals due to its convenient ease of access from the mainland, this is an all-rounder beach where people go for picnics and barbecues. There are plenty of activities to try out here, from cycling to rollerblading and even fishing. East Coast Park has become a popular space for simple get-togethers and family outings.

Lazarus Island

Natural Feature

If you’re looking for a serene location to lounge under the sun, Lazarus Island is your best bet. Taking a ferry there will bring you to one of the famed southern islands of Singapore, which boasts a pristine look. The beach has a very rustic feel and is perfect for those who enjoy discovery and yearn to go off the beaten track. There are plenty of cats around if you happen to be feline-friendly (don’t worry – they’re safe to pet), making it an ideal place to spend some alone time.

Another island that is rarely visited, St. John’s is ideal for those who like to hang out at the beach and enjoy some quality reflection time on their own. It’s a quiet place far from any urban life, making it a great spot to shut off from the world. If you enjoy fishing, this is the place to idle the time away – or simply grab a towel and do nothing.
