Burger Majster (a Polish take on the word ‘master’) is a popular burger venue in the Zaspa neighbourhood. Make sure you head in with an empty stomach, as the burgers are large and packed with all kinds of fresh ingredients to get your taste buds excited. Try the Mexican burger (which is spicy and contains jalapeños), the Klasyk burger (with lettuce, red onion, gherkin and tomato) or the Hawaiian burger (with pineapple). The Wrzeszcz location is a bit out of the way for those based centrally, but it’s definitely worth the trip.

Pani Burger z Dostawą is a small and cosy contemporary burger venue with 14 awesome burgers on its menu. The burger names keep you intrigued and don’t give away the ingredients: for example, the Poranek Kojota (which includes bacon, red onion and barbecue sauce), the Plesniowe Love (paprika, gherkin and cheese sauce) or the Ognista Strzała (which means ‘flame arrow’ and includes olives, tomatoes and a sweet sauce). They also serve chicken burgers, square burgers and tortilla wraps.

Perhaps the most innovative and creative burger joint in the city, Burger Stacja (Burger Station) serves up burgers named after areas and landmarks in Gdańsk. This includes the Train Station Burger (Gdańsk Głowny), the New Oliwa (named after the Oliwa neighbourhood), the City Centre Burger (Srodmiescie) and the Seaside Burger (Sopot). The Gdańsk Głowny burger contains beef, lettuce, onion, tomato and homemade sauce, while the Srodmiescie burger has beef, onion, lettuce, curry, banana and mango. The Burger Stacja is located in the quirky Zaspa neighbourhood, which is famous for its colourful murals.

The range of burgers here is incredible, and will have you spoiled for choice when you’re trying to choose; and then it will have you gasping for your first bite once the burger arrives. You can order the ‘Gangsta Burger,’ which has two beef burgers, bacon, gherkin, red onion, tomato and four types of cheese; the ‘Nacho burger,’ which has nachos and jalapeño peppers in it; or how about the ‘Caramel burger,’ which contains caramel, Norwegian cheese and bacon? Original Burger have started a crazy niche on Gdańsk’s top tourist street, Ulica Długa. You might pay a little bit more for the privilege of eating here, but you’ll see it’s worth it once you savour the gems on sale here. For meat lovers, take a break from the ‘normal’ cheeseburgers and beef burgers by indulging in the ‘Ring of Fire,’ which has a spicy tang, the ‘Jessica Rabbit,’ which has portobello mushrooms, blue cheese and garlic, or the ‘Papa Bear,’ with extra meat, bacon, cheddar and fried onion. There are also two awesome vegetarian burgers on the menu. Local and international beers, wines and cocktails are also present on the stylish menu, which features a welcome range of salads and desserts.

Billy’s American Bar and Grill serves huge breakfasts, including European options as well as their trademark American breakfast. By lunchtime, though, it’s all about the burgers and steaks. The burgers start with the junior children’s sizes and go right up to the quarter-pounders and the speciality burgers. For example, there’s the Avalon burger, which contains blue cheese, bacon, caramelised red onion, tomato and lettuce, or the Cadillac burger, which is a beef tenderloin burger with grilled onions in a buttered roll. The venue has a typical American diner feel to it. If you secure a window seat, you will also overlook the gorgeous harbour front of Gdańsk.

Burgermania is one of the newest and coolest burger joints to hit the streets of Gdańsk and is situated in Przyzmore, the neighbourhood famous for the Falowiec building. The menu has over 10 burgers for you to try, including a vegetarian option, a beef burger with onion rings inside it and an egg, bacon and beef burger. Burgermania is also licensed and sells some good craft beers to go with your meal.

Pasibus Gdańsk

Pasibus is a great option for burger lovers in Gdańsk looking for a good deal. Pasibus have options to suit all diets and requirements, including chicken burgers, vegetarian burgers, medium-sized burgers and children’s burgers. On their ‘Happy Monday,’ all burgers are 17 złotych (£3.50). Take your pick from the ‘Cukiszyn,’ which contains beef, fresh spinach, honey sauce, cheddar cheese, bacon, courgette and olives, or the ‘Leczymorda,’ which contains beef, mayonnaise, bacon, herbs and Hungarian style lasko (a stew with peppers and tomatoes). The Thursday meal deal features a burger, chips and drink for 19 złotych (£4) and if you are a student there’s even better news – selected beers are only 5 złotych (£1).
