There are several excellent hostels based in the Hague that offer everything from low-cost private lodgings to basic but stylish dorms with space for more than a dozen guests. Culture Trip has picked the best hostels in the Hague, the Netherlands.

Christened after the stork that stands on the Hague’s coat of arms, this cosy urban hostel offers travellers the chance to stay in the hustle and bustle of the city’s historic centre. Due to its location on Bierkade, many of the Hague’s most famous landmarks and cultural hotspots are within walking distance, making it perfect for anyone who is eager to discover the city’s history, nightlife or art scenes during their stay. Though there are plenty of popular hangouts nearby, guests at The Golden Stork can also enjoy their downtime in the hostel’s on-site bar (with canal-side terrace), which serves an impressive selection of Dutch and Belgian craft beers. There are five dormitories available inside the hostel, each of which is equipped with all the essentials and between six to 15 comfy bunk beds.

Almost every night of the week, Hostel the Hague’s bar hosts live jazz concerts where musicians perform to guests and anybody else that happens to stop by. Due to its welcoming communal vibe, and location near the city’s bustling Grote Markt Square, which is lined with bars and restaurants, the hostel is an ideal destination for travellers who are eager to meet other people during their time in the Hague. The hostel has one private double room, while its other lodgings are all shared and fitted with four or six bunk beds.

Located within the Hague’s historic centre, near many tram stops and other local amenities, this happening hostel was founded by globe-trotting surfer Jan de Koning, who wanted to create a place where like-minded travellers could rest, hang out and discover the city together. Aside from affordable rooms and shared dormitories, the hostel also features several social spaces, including a cinema, a well-stocked bar and two spacious terraces, where guests can chill out or meet new people during their downtime. Every room available inside the hostel is tailored around a unique theme, ranging from ‘Dutch Design’ to ‘Urban Camping’, and each one is equipped with anywhere between one (double) bed to 16 beds.

Like other spots in the Hague’s Scheveningen district, Jorplace Beach Hostel is minutes away from the city’s coastline and its surrounding seaside attractions. The hostel tailors its lodgings around travellers searching for sun, sea and good times and offers a wide array of rooms that are perfect for beach getaways. Altogether, the hostel has 170 beds, which are spread across rooms of various sizes, ranging from huge shared dormitories with space for 27 guests to private lodgings geared towards couples or close friends. It is also possible for groups to reserve spots at Jorplace, either inside large dorms or a wooden chalet located in the hostel’s backyard. Other facilities at the hostel include a restaurant with a bar that serves tasty barbecue food and bike or longboard rental services.
