The Best Markets in Billings, Montana
While Billings is the largest city in the state of Montana, it maintains a small-town charm. A great place to get a feel for the the pleasant and refreshing countryside culture of Billings is at one of its extraordinary markets.
Yellowstone Valley Farmer’s Market
Started in 1985, The Yellowstone Valley Farmer’s Market is a non-profit organization that aims to boost consumership of local, fresh produce and other goods. Today, it is the largest farmer’s market in the state of Montana. Every Saturday from 8AM to noon, the market sells fresh fruits and vegetables from local farms around the Billings area. As the produce comes from nearby farms, the variety changes seasonally and weekly. The market also features other vendors who sell wares like cooked food and flowers. There is also live entertainment every week at the market!
The I-90 Antique Mall and Auction House is a market on the side of the road that is open daily from 9AM to 5:30 PM, with live auctions in the Auction House every second Saturday of the Month. The vendors have small booths, some of which change on a day to day basis, and sell items like antique furniture, dishes, clothing, home decor, collectable items, and primitives. For a unique mid-west country experience amongst the big sky and beautiful mountain ranges of Montana, stop by the I-90 Antique Mall and Auction House, and try to come on a second Saturday to see the fascinating talent of auctioneers Vern and Cash Seal.

Gardeners’ Market
The Health by Design Gardeners’ Market is a place where locals in Billings can go to buy produce from gardeners that grow in their own backyards. The market is located in South Park, and is open every week on Thursdays. Until October 1, they offer a “boot camp” that helps shoppers to cook quick meals with fresh, healthy vegetables, hoping to encourage healthy lifestyles in the community. The initiative is also a great way to stimulate business for local gardeners and farmers. There are also free family activities and demonstrations for children, such as lessons on how to plant seeds, identifying plants and vegetables, and catching backyard bugs.
