Mehana Sozopol

If you want to delve into Bulgarian cuisine, choose Mehana Sozopol for one of your meals while in Sozopol. Its menu offers the best local specialties from all over the country, and everything comes in huge portions and at a reasonable price. The service is friendly and quick, and the atmosphere resembles the old Bulgarian houses’ interior from two centuries ago. The restaurant has a live band playing in the evening, so why not join the party?

Windmill (Vyatarna Melnica)

Vyatarna Melnica (literally Windmill) is one of the best restaurants serving Bulgarian dishes in Sozopol. The restaurant is located in the Old Town, and you will hardly miss it given its windmill décor. The interior recalls old Bulgarian homes with original pieces of furniture and home textiles. You can hear Bulgarian folk music and watch a reenactment of the nestinari firewalking ritual.

Zoy

Zoy Restaurant is situated at the fishing port of Sozopol and is probably the best place to have dinner with a beautiful sunset view over the harbor. The menu is simple but full of classy choices. You will always find fresh fish and seafood here, all deliciously cooked and one notch above the average eateries in Sozopol.

Casa del Mare

This restaurant is set in the Casa del Mare Hotel in the Old Town of Sozopol. The cuisine is mainly Mediterranean with several Bulgarian dishes included in the menu. The main dining room seats up to 100 guests, while the open-air terrace can fit another 90. One of the best memories you will retain from this restaurant, along with the food, is the beautiful panorama that opens out from its windows. The Southern Fortress Wall and Tower Museum is just a stone’s throw away from here.

Urania

If you look for a place for fine dining, look no further than Urania. The food is a refined mixture of the best from European, Mediterranean, Middle Eastern, Chinese, and Russian cuisines, but most of all it is what the restaurant’s chef imagines is good food. The waiters are also kind and helpful when you’re hesitating over what to order. For the best views, choose a table by the windows from where you will be able to look over the bay from the height of the rocks.

This family restaurant in the historical part of Sozopol has one of the best views in town: the arched windows reveal the silhouette of Saint Ivan Island in the distance, while the restaurant itself is perched on the cliffs. The menu has mainly dishes inspired by Bulgarian and Greek cuisine with lots of fish and seafood choices. You should try the homemade ice cream with figs, which is a specialty here.
