From Turkish hamams to day spas and wellness centres, the myriad of options will guarantee you leave rejuvenated and ready to explore more of what Düsseldorf has to offer.
Münster Therme
Spa
The city-centre Münster Therme occupies a lovely spot north of the Old Town and can be easily reached by public transport. The beautiful building dates from 1902 and has retained some of its original Gründerzeit and Art Nouveau charms. To this day, it’s a favourite among spa and wellness fans who come here for massages and to enjoy some time in the sauna and steam rooms after a busy day or on the weekend. At only €14.40 for an adult day pass, Münster Therme offers quite a deal if you’re looking to pamper yourself for a few hours.
Hamam Sahara
Spa
The Hamam Sahara in Flingern Nord brings a Turkish flair to Düsseldorf. Mosaic tiles, soft lighting and water features set the mood for the authentic bathing ritual that is a crucial part of Turkish and Middle Eastern culture. Following a set sequence, you’ll take a shower, then be guided into a steam room to help your muscles relax, before experiencing a typical deep-cleansing peel and a massage with olive-oil soap. Packages range from €25 to €70 per person and may include other treatments, such as a head or a facial treatment.
Vabali Spa Düsseldorf
Spa
If you have a full day to spend at the spa, Vabali is the real deal. This beautiful spa and wellness centre has been designed with a Balinese theme in mind along with a love for detail: hardwood floors, bamboo elements, wood carvings and natural colours create an oasis that allows you to completely switch off. You can easily spend all day detoxing in the dozen different saunas and steam rooms, pampering yourself with coconut-mint peels and Ayurvedic massages and taking a dip in one of the pools. The on-site restaurants and cafés ensure that you are able to refuel between treatments. A day pass (€36.50 – €39.50) gives you access to all the facilities; massages and treatments can be booked for an extra charge.
Momentum Spa
Spa
The Momentum Spa in Düsseldorf’s Derendorf neighbourhood lures with an experience that speaks to all the senses. The simple and elegant design is paired with warm earthy colours, warm lighting and soft background music that set a relaxing tone as soon as you step inside. Depending on what you’re after, you can choose from an array of soothing massages, including hot stone, Thai or Hawaiian Lomi Lomi. To round things off, you can add a coffee peel, anti-ageing facial or purifying algae wrap to your experience. All treatments can be booked individually, or you can opt for a readily designed package that includes a set number of treatments. Prices start at €32.50 for a two-hour visit, or €100 and up for a package.
Neandertal Therme at Land Gut Höhne
Spa
This gorgeous high-end wellness hotel is a bit out of town, but worth visiting especially if you’re planning on staying overnight. You can also buy a day pass to the spa area, though hotel guests are given preference, so it’s worth checking the availability in advance if you want to venture out to Mettmann. The castle-like atmosphere of the hotel continues into the spa and fitness area, with exposed brick walls and wooden beams throughout and with treatments that will have you feeling like royalty. Detox in their steam room, take a dip the natural stone grotto or warm up in the infrared sauna. If you’re staying for the night, you can use the Neandertal Therme free of charge; day guests pay between €20 and €45, depending on the length of the stay and which day of the week you’re visiting. Treatments need to be booked and paid for separately.
Turkish Hamam Düsseldorf
Spa
Over an area of more than 700 square metres, the Turkish Hamam Düsseldorf allows you experience the traditional Turkish bathing ritual. You can choose between nine different packages starting at €30, which all include a towel and exfoliating Kese mitt, access to the steam room and sauna, a deep-cleansing peel and an oil massage. Higher-priced packages included extra treatments, from a full-body mocha peel and pomegranate face mask to an anti-stress head massage or a salt rub. Please note that Saturdays to Wednesdays are reserved for women only, while men are welcome to visit on Fridays.
Wellneuss
Spa
The Wellneuss spa in Neuss resembles a park that is centred around a natural swimming area. The water’s edge is lined with grassy areas, deckchairs and log cabins that house saunas of different temperatures. A boardwalk takes you from one station to the next and helps you explore the range of different experiences, be it a quick visit to the herbal infusion sauna, the steam room, the Kelo sauna with panoramic views of the park or one of the quiet rooms. A day pass includes all of the different stations, and you always have the option of adding a spa or beauty treatment as well. Day passes are priced at €28.50, and packages start at €55.
