If you want to learn Spanish in Central America, Honduras is an affordable place to do so. There aren’t as many schools here as in neighbouring countries, but you’ll still find good places to study. Check out the following schools for opportunities to study, explore or volunteer in this amazing country.

Utila is an ideal place to relax

Honduras Spanish School

School

This school is located in the port city of La Ceiba, the jumping off point for visits to Utila and Roatan. It’s known for high standards of teaching, and beginners can request one of the bilingual staff to help them make rapid progress.

Copan Spanish Language Immersion School Honduras

School

Situated in the western city of Copan, this Spanish school is staffed by teachers boasting decades of experience. The school focuses on employing members of the community, so you can be sure that your fees are benefiting locals. Visit the Mayan ruins during your time off or explore the surrounding jungle.

Guacamaya Spanish School

School

Another good option in Copan, this school offers immersion in the local Mayan culture. It’s also worth mentioning that Copan is known as one of the safest places in Honduras, largely escaping the high crime rates that affect larger cities.

Spanish Institute of Honduras

School

Head to the mountain town of Siguatepeque to learn Spanish surrounded by peaks and pine forests. One-to-one classes are combined with educational field trips so that students can appreciate the local culture while improving their language skills.

Roatan, Honduras

Joya’s Spanish Language School, Roatan

School

Head to the beautiful island of Roatan and study Spanish on some of the best beaches in Central America. Founder Mercedes Joya worked for 25 years at the National University of Honduras in Tegucigalpa before moving to Roatan, so you know you’re in good hands.
