It has since expanded to include 31 rooms. Situated near downtown Luang Prabang, this luxury resort boasts two swimming pools, lotus ponds and museum-quality artifacts from all over Asia collected by the Lao-born and French-raised owner. Sofitel Luang Prabang is a 25-room luxury hotel on a historic estate that was the French Governor’s mansion 100 years ago. Turned into a hotel in 2010, it’s the French-run sister resort to Naga Hotel in downtown Luang Prabang and was fully restored in 2015. The facilities have traditional Lao architecture, as well as French Colonial. Pet rabbits run through the manicured gardens that also have lily ponds, pools and an outdoor fire pit. The spa is housed in a traditional Lao building on stilts which lets in natural light while you’re pampered with a massage or treatment.
