There are always plenty of things to do in Dubai, and when it comes to the hotter months, the fun certainly doesn’t stop in the desert. Summer 2018 is already shaping up to be a great one in the emirate, with a whole load of special events, great deals and new experiences on offer since last year.

The heat doesn’t mean visitors and residents have to stay holed up inside; whether by day or night, Dubai is very much open for business this summer. Here are the best things to do over the next few months.

Be thrilled by Dubai Summer Surprises

The Dubai Mall is full of deals

Up until August 4, locations all around Dubai are offering incredible retail sales, great dining deals, plus tons of entertaining performances and giveaways.

Swap a public beach for a Dubai beach club

Privilee is offering a three-month membership this summer, which makes a nice change to the year-long period members usually have to commit to. It works by paying a one-off annual fee or monthly instalments (at a slightly higher cost) to have access to some of the best beach clubs in Dubai and the rest of the UAE.

Just taking advantage of it twice a month could earn you a saving when visiting the likes of the Westin Mina Seyahi for a dip in their temperature-controlled pools. While Dubai may be sweltering during the summer, refreshment service to a sun lounger sure makes it a more pleasant experience.

Cool down with water and ice

Hit the ski slopes

Until September 30, Wild Wadi and Ski Dubai are offering a combo ticket where residents can enjoy access to the Jumeirah water (with views of the Burj Al Arab) and two hours on the ski slope, Snow Park or at Ski School Discovery for AED249 (USD$68). So, those looking to release some energy will have plenty of things to do in Dubai.

See a show at Dubai World Trade Centre

Shadowland loves silhouettes

The venue plays host to lots of shows and events in Dubai – from September 13-15, Shadowland will be in the city for the first time. From Pilobolus dance company, the Sheikh Rashid Hall will be taken over by shadow storytelling of the ballet and circus through silhouettes.

Ticket prices range from AED250 (USD$68) to AED1,000 (USD$272). Get more information at www.shadowland.ae.

When in doubt, brunch

Brunch is practically a rite of passage when looking for things to do in Dubai, and this summer, beachside venue Barasti has launched their Barastic Park brunch. Celebrating all things dinosaur, 2018’s FIFA World Cup-themed superdome turns into Jurassic Park mode now the football tournament is over. Beastly brunch takes place Saturdays from 2pm to 5pm and costs AED175 (USD$48) for women and AED250 (USD$68) for men.

Drop some dirhams on beautiful art

Peruvian restaurant, Coya, is displaying Salvador Dalí’s artworks up until the end of August and all pieces are on sale. Approximately 60 are in the member’s room and art fans get a rare chance see the pieces in a very intimate setting.

Party the night away

Despite the weather, many nightclubs are still very much open in Dubai over summer. While WHITE Dubai, which ranks in DJ Magazine’s Top 20 Clubs in the World, is taking a break until autumn, staff have relocated to the nearby Soho Garden. With a Café Mambo pop-up reminiscent of Ibiza, or the option of experiencing Drai’s beach club indoors (instead of the usual al fresco feel), the complex of clubs at Meydan is making sure visitors to the city are always guaranteed plenty of things to do in Dubai for nightlife.

Try a cave workout

TEPfactor

Every Friday this summer, TEPFactor Dubai is offering cave yoga for free at between 8am and 9.30am. People usually attend to solve mind-bending puzzles, but the idea for the Jumeirah Beach Residence venue is to keep fitness enthusiasts cool while calming the mind and practising the discipline.
