When you think of Ireland, you may not immediately think of yoga, but like most other western cultures, the Irish have embraced the ancient Indian mind-body practice and its many benefits. Dublin is now brimming with yoga studios, but some are significantly better than others. Here are five of the best.

The Yoga Hub

The Yoga Hub on Camden Place provides yoga training for all levels, with a seven-day schedule of classes taking in varied styles, from athletic hatha and ashtanga ‘flow’ to stress-relieving mindful yoga. This place is known for its community feel, and those who train here tend to keep coming back, availing of discounted long-term passes and rates. The Yoga Hub also takes drop-ins, and many people stop in just to visit their highly recommended HappyFood vegan café. With exceptional teachers, heated and non-heated studios and a convenient central location, this studio has a class to suit everyone.
Fees: Drop in classes from €10. Monthly pass €59 for the first 30 days, €89 to continue.
📅 Monday to Friday 7am – 9.30pm, Saturday and Sunday 9.30am – 5pm

The Elbow Room

Smithfield’s The Elbow Room calls itself a ‘unique urban retreat’, and on the inside it certainly does feel more like a countryside oasis than a city-centre studio. Housed in a two-storey building called the Old Wooden Mill not far from Smithfield Square, they offer yoga, pilates and meditation classes, as well as providing acupuncture, homeopathy, massage and other restorative treatments. There is no age limit or one-size-fits-all model at The Elbow Room – their timetable of classes covers children’s yoga, beginners’ courses, pregnancy yoga, and gentler styles suitable for older yogis, as well as more difficult styles like ashtanga.
Fees: Drop in from €8. Monthly pass €69 for the first 30 days, €99 to continue.

Yoga Dublin

With studios in Ranelagh and Dundrum, Yoga Dublin offers a straightforward programme of classes separated by level of ability, which will be a relief to any beginners put off by a schedule full of Sanskrit-derived terms they’ve never heard of. This studio is also well known for its pre-natal yoga training under trainer Lou Horgan, who has taught birth workshops to over 900 couples in Dublin. The peaceful Ranelagh practice space is in a spacious loft studio, reached through a gated garden area. Yoga Dublin also offers the option to book private individual sessions or blocks of classes with a yoga trainer.
Fees: Drop in from €12. Monthly pass €59 introductory offer, €99 to continue.

Dublin Holistic Centre

The multidisciplinary Dublin Holistic Centre on South William Street runs lunchtime yoga, pilates and yogalates classes, plus evening classes in ashtanga flow, ashtanga sadhana, mindful hatha and power vinyasa styles of yoga. The centre is located in an old Georgian building close to Saint Stephen’s Green, making it a great option for those working in the city centre. The style of the building means that the yoga studios have high ceilings and wooden floors, and are roomy enough to accommodate large class sizes comfortably.
Fees: Drop in from €10. Monthly four-class passes from €28.
