Your Guide To The Best Views in Stockholm
It can be argued that the best views of Stockholm are from the waterfront. But this city of islands offers dazzling beauty from its hilltops and rooftops too! Get your walking shoes on and let’s explore Stockholm’s countless exquisite features. Here are some of the best views of the city from the south side.
Fjällgatan
Natural Feature
Fjällgatan is a road built into the cliffs that tower over Slussen in Södermalm, Stockholm’s southern island. There is a pedestrian area where one can take in the stunning view as well as a designated viewing point. Fjällgatan offers one of the best panoramic views of Stockholm and is picture-perfect year round! Herman’s vegetarian restaurant and Fotografiska Museum are some of the nearby attractions.

Skansen
Museum
Sweden’s first ever open-air museum was opened in 1981 and has been delighting people ever since. It is on the lovely and charming island of Djurgarden, which also features an excellent park. Skansen aims to show off the different ways that people lived before the industrial revolution and thus has a full replica of a 19th-century town. The people who work there are dressed in traditional garb and all represent a specific trade or role that people held in the 19th century, including tanners and shoemakers. There is also a zoo, which contains classic Scandinavian animals like bison and moose. Its opening hours vary depending on the season so make sure to double check ahead of your visit. This Swedish outdoor museum has a lot to offer and a season pass could be well worth it for Stockholmers. Check out their seasonal programs on their webpage to plan your visits.
Skinnarviksberget
Natural Feature
Alternatively, explore these views from the northern banks and up by the old port where Sweden’s parliament is housed.
Stadshuset
Building
Evert Taubes Terrass
Park
This is a beautiful spot on Riddarholmen island that’s close to the Old Town and is a comfortable walking distance from both south Stockholm and the city center.
Tak
Bar, Cafe, Nightclub, Street Food, Healthy, Asian, Fusion
This rooftop park and leisure area in the middle of downtown Stockholm offers morning yoga as well as street food vendors and DJ sets for nights of fun under the evening sun!
Stockholm Under Stjärnorna
Bar, Street Food
Five years ago no one would have thought that hidden Brunkebergstorg, which is filled with government offices, would be the new Mecca for boutique hotels in Stockholm. But now, a brace of amazing hotels have sprung up, and alongside them is this newest and most talked-about rooftop bar. It’s DJ-driven and with a view that beautifully captures central Stockholm’s hustle and bustle.
As a final recommendation, you can opt to take in the splendor of Stockholm from the water by taking a guided tour of the 15 bridges that connect the Scandinavian capital. Boat tours depart from Nybrokajen regularly. Check Stromma for times and to book your tickets.
