The Best Private Trips to Book for Family Celebrations
Planning a vacation with the fam? Whether it’s a big birthday, an anniversary or simply any other excuse for a big celebration, these private trips offer something for everyone in the family.
There’s plenty of pros for going private. Obviously it means you can keep the guest-list locked down, so you can enjoy memory-making travel experiences with only the ones you love most. It also allows for far greater flexibility on travel dates, group sizes (minimum of 4) and even age requirements – our small-group trips have a minimum age of 25, but go private and younger members of the clan can join too!
Greek Island Odyssey
Ready to smash some plates? Greece has long been a favourite destination for groups of people who want to celebrate something special. Whether it’s weddings or birthdays, anniversaries or retirement parties, there’s something about the laid-back nature of island life that sets the scene perfectly for blissful celebration. Our eight-day bonanza starts in the capital, Athens, for a bit of city sightseeing before we embark on an island-hopping extravaganza to Milos, Naxos and Santorini. Explore the coves and caves of Milos by boat, take an authentic Greek cooking class in Naxos and enjoy one of the world’s most splendid sunsets in Santorini.

Epic Morocco
Picture this – the whole family is gathered around the campfire in the middle of the Sahara. Night has fallen, the adults have enjoyed a wine tasting and the kids have gazed in awe at the stars above with an expert astronomer. You’re all there together, sharing memories, old stories and jokes in the middle of the desert, a million miles away from civilisation. The incredible thing about our comprehensive Morocco trip is that our Sahara camping experience is just another day. This itinerary is packed with remarkable experiences, from the surreal blue streets of Chefchaouen to the epic gorges of the Atlas Mountains, the old world vibes of Fes medina, and the bustling market square of Marrakech. You’ll also visit the largest mosque in Africa, chat to a local family over a home-cooked dinner and go camel riding at sunrise in the Sahara.

Volcanic Iceland
Does your family love an adventure? Our five-day Iceland itinerary will keep their pulses racing and their adrenaline pumping as our Local Insider helps you and the gang tackle this unforgiving volcanic landscape. You’ll get a private tour of the Golden Circle, walk behind thundering waterfalls and stroll across a black-sand beach. Things will really step up a notch on a three-hour hike across the frozen tongue of Sólheimajökull and a thrilling snowmobile ride across an icy glacier. There’ll be no shortage of incredible family photo opps, especially in the milky waters of the Blue Lagoon or, with a bit of luck, in front of a shimmering backdrop of Aurora Borealis.

Splendid South Africa
There really is something for all of the family on our road trip itinerary across the stunning Garden Route of South Africa. Culture vultures in the family will be enamoured by our cultural excursion in Cape Town, while foodies can partake in our Cape Malay cooking class. Outdoor adventurers will love shouting from the peak of Table Mountain, kayaking with penguins in Simons Town and exploring the luscious Tsitsikamma National Park. The more mature palates in the family will have the time of their lives vineyard-hopping in Stellenbosch, courtesy of the adorable Franschhoek hop-on, hop-off wine tram. Every single member of the family, meanwhile, will fall in love with Gondwana Game Reserve and our luxury lodge in the heart of it. You’ll have the chance to go on up to four safari drives during your stay, but you’ll also have plenty of free time to borrow mountain bikes, go for a picnic or use the onsite bush spa. Morning dips in the gorgeous infinity pool, meanwhile, are sometimes accompanied with a visit from local elephants – now that is something you’ll be talking about around the Christmas dinner table for decades.

Go Wild in the Galapagos
Why gather around the TV to watch a David Attenborough doc when you can basically be in one yourself? The Galapagos is teeming with exotic wildlife – which had Darwin falling head over heels – and you can discover them all first hand on our five-day itinerary in this unique archipelago off the coast of Ecuador. Keep an eye-out for white-tipped reef shark while kayaking in the Itabaca Channel, hang with sea lions, iguanas and penguins on the beach and spot blue-footed boobies along the lava trails of San Cristóbal. Let’s not forget about this island group’s most famous inhabitant, though. The giant tortoise is a remarkable creature, sometimes reaching 150+ years old, and you’ll get to hang out with them at a glamping site in the highlands of Santa Cruz, where over a hundred of these gentle giants freely roam.

Connect with like-minded people on our premium trips curated by local insiders and with care for the world
Since you are here, we would like to share our vision for the future of travel - and the direction Culture Trip is moving in.
Culture Trip launched in 2011 with a simple yet passionate mission: to inspire people to go beyond their boundaries and experience what makes a place, its people and its culture special and meaningful — and this is still in our DNA today. We are proud that, for more than a decade, millions like you have trusted our award-winning recommendations by people who deeply understand what makes certain places and communities so special.
Increasingly we believe the world needs more meaningful, real-life connections between curious travellers keen to explore the world in a more responsible way. That is why we have intensively curated a collection of premium small-group trips as an invitation to meet and connect with new, like-minded people for once-in-a-lifetime experiences in three categories: Culture Trips, Rail Trips and Private Trips. Our Trips are suitable for both solo travelers, couples and friends who want to explore the world together.
Culture Trips are deeply immersive 5 to 16 days itineraries, that combine authentic local experiences, exciting activities and 4-5* accommodation to look forward to at the end of each day. Our Rail Trips are our most planet-friendly itineraries that invite you to take the scenic route, relax whilst getting under the skin of a destination. Our Private Trips are fully tailored itineraries, curated by our Travel Experts specifically for you, your friends or your family.
We know that many of you worry about the environmental impact of travel and are looking for ways of expanding horizons in ways that do minimal harm - and may even bring benefits. We are committed to go as far as possible in curating our trips with care for the planet. That is why all of our trips are flightless in destination, fully carbon offset - and we have ambitious plans to be net zero in the very near future.
